makes a convincing defense of John Kyl as a stand-up guy, in spite of being a cosponsor of this year's amnesty bill:
For this effort he deserves thanks. This will evoke many comments denouncing Kyl as a turncoat and a traitor, but the obvious utility of making the best of a bad situation needs to be mentioned here, and more than merely mentioned, praised.

After reading
this article by Byron York, I'm wondering what advantage Romney really has for social conservatives over Giuliani. It really appears that Romney has said whatever the audience has wanted to hear: social "Bill Weld" (ugh) - style liberal when running for the Senate in '94, committed social conservative now that he needs to get to the right of McCain and Giuliani.
This is much more substantial issue than his Mormonism. As York quotes someone name Oran Smith:
